BACKGROUND
Nandan Cleantec Ltd (Nandan Biomatrix Ltd), a leading sustainable energy company, produces biofuel from non-edible crop, Jatropha curcas, which is cultivated on marginal lands. The company has focussed indigenous R&D efforts in developing Jatropha hybrids and owns seven global patents. Nandan has also established a 2nd generation biomass to biofuel conversion unit in India and has vertically integrated its business model.
Nandan has focused on decentralized region-specific business models in accordance with local governance laws and legalities. Examples of successfully operating project models are: Estate farming in Gujarat, MGNREGA-Linked Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) in Orissa, and Public-Private-Panchayat-Partnership (4P) in Uttar Pradesh.
